Intestinal duplication -Case Report -

Abstract
Intestinal duplication is a very rare congenital anomaly of witch embryo genesis is uncertain, but Bremer¢¥s vacuolization theory is most acceptable.
Duplications may arise at any point along, the alimentary tract but are most frequently seen in the ileum. Heteropia of the mucous membrane, mostly stoma¡þch, is not uncommonly seen. Other visceral anomalies are commonly associated.
As the duplication of the intestine is not accompanied by peculiar patient symptoms and signs, it is difficult to make a diagnosis preoperatively.
As the duplicated , segment generally has a blood supply in common with adjacent intestine resection of the duplicated segment together with adjacent intestine is currently regarded as the most effective treatment.
Recently we have experienced a case of intestinal(ileum), duplication, present¡þing with the abdominal :distension: as the result of accumulation of gas and fluid in the duplicated segment in, a 21, days old male infant. The duplication was a tubular type with a communication to the adjacent ileum. The mucoua of the dupHeated segmeatt was composed of the gastric type mucosa, but the proper gastric gland and peptic ulceration were absent. Treatment Was the resection of the duplicated segment together with adjacent ileu and end to end anastorriosis. The postoperative course, was uneventful and he left hospital on 10th day after operation.
